Akira Kimura

Akira is a rather rambunctious young girl, who dives into most situations with very little thought. As she personally believes that sometimes action is better than thinking about the consequences. Whilst being the friendliest of her siblings, do not take her for a fool because she finds joy through deciet. For the most part her lies are typically harmless, often to protect others feelings. However, sometimes its with the intent of keeping others at a distance. Akira finds joy in helping others with their problems merely to evade her own due to her complex about vulnerability. She isn’t the brightest when it comes to book-smarts but she’s very emotionally intelligent. She finds it funny to dupe people who under estimate her.

Taisho Secrets

Akira is left handed. However, she’s trained herself to be ambidextrous.
Akira grows out her nails so Akihito can paint little designs on them. More often than not she’s looking at or clicking her nails together for comfort purposes.
Akira is a surprisingly good cook despite not being the biggest fan of doing it.
Akira is great at whittling. She can make yo-yos and a few other things.
Because of her strict upbringing, for entertainment she was only allowed to play the flute. So whenever she runs out of things to do she practices playing every now and then.
Her favorite pastime is going hand fishing at a nearby lake. When asked about it, she explains its like a game of tag. She always lets go of the fish by the end.
Akira cuts her own hair. She’s usually too indecisive to decide if she wants to keep her hair long or short. So her current hair cut is a combination of both.
Akira carries a pouch of candy that she eats from when trying to keep a smile on her face.
As a child she often dreamed of becoming a knight like in her story books to save her family from the “bad people” which were tax collectors and demons.
Akira has a hard time going to sleep. So she usually works out until the fatigue starts to settle in.
Her eyes are sensitive to the light.
She collects flower petals in her pockets. On nights when she’s tired her pockets are filled with wisteria to keep the demons away.
A good sign that Akira trusts you is that she’ll tell you her last name.
She doesn’t celebrate her birthday at all and gets a bit uncomfortable when it’s brought up. Sometimes she’ll lie and tell people her birthdays June 4th to avoid actually celebrating it on its intended day.
Her favorite flowers are sunflowers and marigolds.
Her favorite color is orange.
Her favorite food is okonomoyaki!
Akira sometimes forgets how strong she is. Which makes her high 5’s and hugs a bit painful.
Akira loves duality to the point where she wanted her whole slayer outfit to be asymmetrical. She was stopped by Akihito.
Akira has a surprisingly bad temper to the point where she’ll break things. She’s very good at leaving situations that’ll invoke that out of her.
That being said the fastest way to get under her skin is to call her ugly. Her beauty is one of the only things her parents complimented her on and so she becomes very defensive about it.
Akira is capable of toning down her over chaotic demeanor, but often finds it boring. However, she’s able to upkeep this other persons for quite some time.
Akira is great at mimicking her twin brother. It’s to the point where subconsciously when she’s nervous she’ll mirror what he does when nervous.
Akira likes to play with matches.

Relationships
Note: The trust bar is just a measurement of how willing Akira is to disclosing everything. As she is someone who generally likes to save face, it’s important to her to keep as many connections as possible.
Hanako aka “Moonshine”
Trust bar: 65%
A rather close friend despite the trust bar, there’s so many things that she’s let slip around him that it’s a bit scary. However, she enjoys his company greatly and it has spun her view on the moon quite a lot. From once resenting and fearing it due to her line of work… she now finds a bit of comfort in seeing it because it reminds her of him. While she understands that he is a ghost and probably should not get invested, one could say that it’s far too late to back out. Between their secret star and name reveals, Akira wants to stall on her wish for as long as possible because the idea of not being able to see her pal, whom she has other conflicting feelings for, makes her nervous. Not to mention shes afraid he’ll come to hate her if he ever finds out the whole truth.
“My moonshine is the kindest person you’ll ever meet! I know he’s a bit of a prankster but I promise he’s so much more.”
Damien aka “Demon Eyes”
Trust bar: 25%
The Android scares the hell out of her due to his rather intense stare and his blatant distaste for lies. While she could find that charming— she is a liar who often tries to navigate away on the premise of fear and self loathing. However, she’s confused by his displays of affection after rather tense periods. Most of her trust comes from the fact that he’s incapable of lying himself so it takes off some of the tension. She is willing to try to be more truthful if he promises to stop staring at her with eyes of disappointment. She’s a bit more hopeful about understanding him after the shopping trip.
“Mr. demon eyes is really strong… but I think I can trust him. I just need to stop being a coward and move forward… with honesty!”
Ryo aka “Mom”
Trust bar: 75%
Akira likes that she’s found a new mother figure as the last person to fulfill it was… a ill fit. And so Akira projects a lot of things she wanted to do with her mother onto Ryo. She genuinely likes talking to Ryo but freezes up when asked to be emotionally vulnerable as she doesn’t want to be a burden. More often than not the young girl likes to shield that part away for the sake of appearing even better in front of her mother. Slowly, but surely she’s coming around to the idea the longer they spend time with each other. But for now Akira really enjoys catching up on weird things she’s heard mothers and daughters bonding over. Such as matching outfits and picking out cool irons for welding weapons to smite demons. At times Akira has blind admiration for Ryo’s range of talents and gets excited at the prospect of learning from her.
“I care about her a lot, so if I catch you making her uncomfortable say goodbye to your teeth. I know she’s strong but I wanna help out in anyway I can.”
Raiko aka “Ko-chan”
Trust bar: 45%
Akira appreciates Raiko’s bubbly demeanor, as they’re both rather similar in trying to be the best older sisters they can be. However, Akira wants to keep the space between her family and work— so she’s concerned to allow Raiko near the rest of her siblings. While she trusts the woman not to do anything bad, she doesn’t want her siblings to put the pieces together. So she’s planning to play a game of keep away, even with Raiko knowing a bit about her past she wants to keep things from boiling over. A genuinely nice friend, nonetheless, to which Akira would like to do more fun things like play games and solve riddles. In truth, the young slayer wants to keep their friendship where it is to avoid any further judgement.
“Your kindness is appreciated but I don’t deserve it. You will hate me like the others because I’m nothing but a liar.”
Backstory
Tw: Child abuse
Note: this is a broad summary! Details will probably come up in rp if Akira is pressed on it or if she’s particularly close to your character.
The Kimura family had accrued generational debt due to rather poor financial decisions made by their great-great-grandparents. As the cycle continued, the debt only seemed to increase. Rather than opting to work to pay it off, the family had constructed a rumor about “the first daughter”.
The rumor essentially promised, that if someone where to be blessed with having a daughter that the debt would be alleviated because she was destined to marry rich. However, if a son was born then he’d continue to pass the torch of what seemed like never ending debt.
The rumor carried its weight until the birth of Akira, the eldest of 5 siblings, born to Aimi Nakamura and
Fumihiro Kimura. The two were firm believers of the rumor and so when Akihito was born it sent the parents into disarray. As this was something that could not possibly be foreseen.
Fumihiro wanted to get rid of the boy before his mischief could start. But Aimi suggested that they instead name both children with the prefix Aki (meaning bright), in the hopes that it would somehow guide their son to be merciful as he got older and make wiser decisions that would in turn end the debt.
Now, it’s to be noted that the Kimura’s had no knowledge of demons and marechi blood.
They did not know that Akihito was a marechi and so whenever he’d get injured a demon attack was only a few steps away. After the first few demon attacks — which they had presumed to be Akihito letting in stray animals they grew to resent him rather quickly.
Akira on the other hand was praised for being born. However, she was often isolated from her siblings to focus on her studies and proper etiquette. After all, once she was of age she was expected to social climb for the sake of her family. However, her father was discontent with her progress as she was not picking up the material as fast as her younger brothers or the local children. As punishment she’d be isolated even further until she’d act accordingly. When she was not on punishment she was under constant watch by her mother to ensure she wouldn’t slack off. Akira wasn’t allowed to partake in fun games with visitors when they’d stop by and instead had to watch her brothers play from a distance. She also was not allowed to frown or cry by her parents as they’d relegate that to her “ruining her face”.
However, with hard work her parents allowed for her to talk to her brothers for about two hours everyday. When she was with Akihito, he’d often review material with her in a way she’d understand. Which she holds dear to her until this day.
Her father disliked all of them and often took his anger out at them through yelling and raising his hands at them.
Eventually, with the rise of familial deaths, Akihito (13) was kicked out of the house by his father. Fumihiro couldn’t tolerate the potential of his son targeting him next and banished disowned him. Akira, who had been rather passive out of fear, couldn’t bear the thought of being left alone to deal with both their parents… and collectively decided to take their three younger siblings and ran away.
However, before she left she set fire to her room as her very first act of defiance.
From then on the 5 were homeless and adopted a few street smarts along the way, such as haggling and thievery. However, the twins usually left the younger ones behind when they’d opt to steal. As they were trying to save face, especially Akira. This had gone on for a few months until they met their teacher.
A wandering demon slayer named Jinsei, had stumbled upon one of their elaborate works of team work to steal. Impressed by their teamwork and manipulation, he decided that he’d make model citizens of them and took them under his wing. After rounding up the rest of the siblings, he acted as a father figure during the time that he had them.
Though their good luck streak didn’t last— as tragedy struck after one of their most cherished events the Star Festival.
A demon broke into their house and heavily wounded their teacher, which was a huge blow to themas they finally started to assimilate to regular life. They had lived with him for nearly 2 years and considered him a father figure.
As an act of mercy, Jinsei begged for Akihito to deliver the finishing blow. However, the boy was fearful and so Akira took on the duty and killed her teacher herself. The rest of her siblings do not know this and she wants to keep it that way.
After his death, the two picked up training and sought out to become demon slayers. They’d eventually pass the final selection as a duo and continue to operate similarly like that. However, Akihito is known for taking hiatuses. That being said, in more recent times she can be found taking on missions by herself, while her brother takes his breaks.
